Expansion Shelf LEDs

The expansion shelf front LEDs are located on both handles. The power button is only on the right handle. The following table describes the front LEDs.

LED Status
Power indicator Solid green indicates that the power is on.
Heartbeat The heartbeat LED is solid during normal operation.
SAS In / SAS Out Flashing indicates network activity is present.

SAS In is on the right and SAS Out is on the left

Power failure One or both of the following conditions:
  • A power supply has failed
  • A power cord is not plugged in
Temperature One of the following conditions:
  • Blinking indicates at least two fan failures:
    • If both fans are failing in the same zone, only the bezel on that side will blink.
    • If fan failures are on both expanders, OverTemp LED on both sides will blink.
  • Solid indicates an overheat condition

The expander fans are replaceable in all expansion shelves. See Replace a Fan.
NOTE: The Power button turns power to the expanders on and off. It does not have an LED.
